How do you use on tanning gel ?
I just got a bottle of Tinted Self-Tanning Leg Gel with Pure Vitamin E from Lancome. I was wondering how I I'm supposed to put it on, or like when. So do I just put it on like putting sun screen? Or am I supposed to put it on at night, and how many times should I use it? And I was also wondering if using tanning gel is bad for you?
Usually self tanners should be used after exfoliating and showering ( i usually shower and in the shower after using soap, I take a home made sugar and oatmeal scrub and scrub my legs and arms and wherever else I'm going to tan myself). After washing it off, your suppose to completely dry off with a towel and then apply the gel or lotion. You apply it like lotion but make sure you don't put on a thick layer. Putting on a thick layer can cause you to go orange or it could even cause uneven streaks. After putting on the gel, if your skin feels a little wet, just try to wait a few minutes and then put on loose clothing (you also want to make sure your wearing old clothing because it could get stained). I usually self tan at night about an hour before bed so I don't have to walk around smelling like self tanner nor do I have to worry about imprints from clothes because I'm wearing baggy shorts and a large shirt. Although I do have to use old sheets, but it's so much better to do this at night so when you wake up in the morning, you can even out any streaking by applying rubbing alcohol or showering. The packaging or bottle should have specific instructions but I just listed some tips..Good luck, and remember you want to build up your tan, not apply a lot of product now and then end up looking orange. I remember the first time I self tanned, I got too excited and applied like 4 layers of the lotion and woke up looking orange. Oh and you can use it until you get to the color you want, you can even see how it works with your skin so the next time you do it, you can apply 2 layers instead of 1 if 1 layer didn't make much of a difference. Using tanning gel is suppose to be safer then traditional sun tanning or using UV lamps, but then again your putting chemicals in your skin (much like lotions, soaps, and other things). OH and yes do remember to use sun screen if your going to be in the sun (the sunless tanners don't have sunscreen in it). But don't use lotions after you apply the gel because lotions dilute the effects of the self tanner.
