is it possible to cut brass using this method?
Hello i need to cut a perfect circle out of brass plate approx 2mm thick i am toying with the idea of using a adjustable glass cutter that sticks in the middle and then using an amount of pressure to wear the brass down gradually eventually making a cut the tip of the glass cutter is carbide but there are variations any advice and help would be greatly recieved power tools wont work as i need it to be precise and as clean a cut as possible and im talking about a 18" dia cut thanks.
You don't say whether it's the disk or the opening which you need.
A "Fly cutter' mounted on an electric drill is probably your best bet.
If it's the disk you require, you can temporarily glue a 'center block
to the plate to furnish a pivot point without marring the disk.
Be careful to allow for the 'kerf' of the cutter.
Go slow, with very light pressure.
Don't let the cutter 'hog in'.
